Welcome to Rathlin

A strange greeting since the site is hosted in England by a German company and was designed by a Scotsman who hasn't set foot on the island (yet)!

I do, however, have strong Rathlin connections and, in my pursuit for branches in my Family Tree, have uncovered a lot of information about the Island that I'd like to share. If you're interested you can find out more about me in by using the Webmaster link.

This site (and much of my own research) would not have been possible without the help of others. The Acknowledgments link should suitably swell their clever heads.

The navigation panel to the left should be fairly self explanatory and easy to operate.

The Rathlin Directory contains many Rathlin families from the 18th century to the present day, as of 10th July 2010 the Directory now includes over 8800 individuals from over 1200 family groups. With branches in Rathlin, the Americas, Australasia and Mainland Britain.

In Resourses you'll find all the available records for the Island, I intend to transcribe all the Hatches, Matches and Dispatches that I can track down, at present this area is very sparce if anyone would like to volunteer to visit PRONI and make a start I'd be very grateful.

I don't have an unlimited amount of time to devote to updating these pages so much of the content is Dynamic (you make the contributions). I've made a wee start in all the sections but the Site News, Forum, Gallery and Links,

Further information, requests, question, stories, jokes etc. can be posted in the Forums and/or the Contact form is a convenient way of reaching me.

In the Links section you can view, visit and add sites relevant to the Island or advertise your Ballycastle/Rathlin business. If you come across any other helpful links relating to History or general Genealogy you can submit them too.
